For Farmers. By Farmers.
As grain farmers ourselves, we initially created this site so we could easily get a quick snapshot of the farm economy in very little time during the busy seasons of planting and harvest.
In our opinion, the charts provide real, objective, numerical facts about the current situation, whereas articles, newsletters, and expert commentary are all opinions about those facts. While we do enjoy reading commentary as time permits, we have found that a chart is worth 1000 words and can show you a lot of information in a very short period of time.
We also felt that just looking at corn and soybean prices wasn't enough. We also wanted to see the carry, corn to soybean price ratio, long-term continuous charts, commitment of traders, charts for industries that use our products like livestock and ethanol, charts for inputs like natural gas and oil, and charts for the broader economy like the S&P 500, interest rates, and dollar index.
Wanting to make all of this information quick and easy to access on a cell phone while in a tractor, we developed this basic website with all the relevant charts on a single page. We now use it a lot and hope other farmers will find it useful as well.
